Emmanuel Berry was born in Sens, France, in 1971.
A former student of Serge Gal, Berry has a strong passion for large format photography, as well as for the zone system technique. In 1992, he met Robert Frank and became good friends with Paolo Roversi. These important friendships profoundly influenced Emmanuel`s work. Under their influence he discovered the Polaroid camera with which he worked exclusively for many years.
Winner of the Ilford Prize in 1994, Emmanuel`s first exhibition took place in 1999. Several other exhibitions followed, not only in Paris but also internationally.
